  • Introduction 

    On 20 April 2018, Jilin University and the University of Queensland signed the Letter of Intent for Cooperation describing the desire of the two universities to continue collaborations and agreed that the two universities will jointly establish a Joint Research Center which is affiliated to the International Center of Future Science.

    In October 2018, delegation from University of Queensland, including Alan Rowan, Dean of the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at the University of Queensland and other 8 scholars visited Jilin University and participated in various academic activities of "Jilin University-Queensland University Week".

    On July 15, 2019, UQ-JLU Research Symposium with the theme of "future materials" was held at the University of Queensland. Experts in related fields had in-depth discussions and exchanges on scientific issues of common interest. On the evening of July 15, JLU and the UQ signed the "Jilin University-University of Queensland Joint Center Agreement" to establish Joint Research Centre for Future Materials, the Centre focuses on the research work in the areas which include, but are not limited to, materials chemistry and engineering, hard nanomaterials, polymers and enabling synthetic materials science, adaptive materials, integrative energy materials and computation materials science. The Centre encourages the exchange of staff and students between the two universities, promotes joint student training, scholarships and student exchange within the Centre for Higher Degree Research and post-doctoral students, encourages to pursue and organize joint conferences and workshops through the Centre, to pursue joint funding opportunities in the Centre areas and joint publications.
